That was my first thought, but the oil patch extends to the starter motor, is it possible that oil can climb up there?

I drilled out and re-tapped the top exhaust stud on my Hawk today. The old one sheared off when the exhaust bolt below the airbox rattled out. This failure happened to all 3 hawks that we had on our most recent trip.
EVERYONE GO RED LOCKTITE THAT BOLT (exhaust securing bolt below the airbox). |

I took my new(to me) Hawk out back, today. Sunbathing and a good book, while hoping to get some good pictures of the beavers. No beavers, but plenty of sun! I'm really impressed with what these bikes can drive over! Hopped over about a 12" diameter tree and didn't even stress my bad arm. I may as well have driven over a small stone. So happy I found this Hawk!
edit: went back, more like 8" diameter lol I'm still impressed.

Took a ride out to Ohiopyle the long way, about a 150 mile round trip, easily the furthest I've gone on the TT. Tried a couple of unpaved roads. Fun as usual but I don't know how people cope with big heavy adventure bikes, especially the stopping bit...
Loads of photo ops out there but I was a little pressed for time. Took some highway back to save time, long running at 55-60. Not uncomfortable at all. |

I usually ride my Hawk to work and every now and then I leave and grab some fast food for lunch, and it's difficult on the bike to juggle a drink and ride. I looked at some of the Ram-mount style cupholders, but $30 on a cupholder seems like a lot to me and I think they are kinda big.
Looking for a simple solution, I found this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Zefal-Drink-...-/232452152021 It's a simple foam-lined loop that clamps onto the handlebars. Mine was $9, shipped. Tried it with my favorite cup on a quick trip around the block and it's rock solid. The clamp is a bit small for the bars, but it still doesn't seem to move. My route to work takes me over 10 sets of RR tracks, so I will know really soon if it will make the commute.

It's those wax-lined paper cup that you're going to have problems with. Also, those flared plastic cups with the smaller bottoms being top heavy and wanting to fall over.

I took care of what is restricting the stock exhaust on my Hawk. The exhaust had to past through a less than 3/4" hole on the right. It's a little louder but defiantly open it up.

I talked with my Hawk Sitter and we're trying to figure out when he can get the bike out here to me...
