FAA Mission Statement: We're not happy until you're not happy!

There are some great strides coming out in the world of electric airplanes. A lot of the energy storage problems have been solved, and most platforms have a 1:1 usage/charge ratio now. Honestly, I don't think that electric planes will (please forgive the terrible pun) take off the way diesels will. Rotax has a diesel engine that's available now that has a roughly 32% improvement in fuel economy. Considering that Jet-A is about a dollar cheaper per gallon than 100LL, the increased up front cost of a diesel will more than pay for itself over the life of the engine. The only downside to diesels is that there isn't much in the way of STC conversions because they need liquid cooling, unlike the air cooled mills available from Lycoming and Continental. Add into that the increased weight from a liquid cooling system and heavier engine, it'll be a while before the FAA gets around to ok'ing conversions and new builds.

Acewell ACE-5356 digi dash for the quad project. Pearls for pigs but I got it cheap from a friend, never fitted still in original box with all the sensors and whatnot.

Water pump for my truck. First part I've had to replace on the truck after 96,000 miles. Can't complain.

I ordered a Espresso machine, a Breville Braista Express! This was without every having tasted straight up Espresso. I figured if I don't like espresso, I can always make Lattes, Cappuccinos or Americano's.

Actually, I order it on Thursday and went yesterday to buy some fresh roasted coffee beans from Baltimore Coffee. When I got there, I didn't know what to get and told the guy I'm waiting on an Espresso machine, but had never tried straight up Espresso. I ended up buying a few different coffee beans... When he went to check me out, he offered me a double shot...

Man, was that Espresso good.. I think I'm now going to be a Espresso drinker.. no more drip coffee for me.

An optic for my new budget boom stick.

I decided to keep with the budget theme, even though I am a bit of a glass snob. I followed the suggestions of a couple of buddies and reviews online and decided to try a Primary Arms scope. Specifically the first focal plane 4-14x44 ACSS 5.56 HUD retical. Yes, it is made in China, but honestly it's not all that bad. The quality on it is as good as some scopes I have owned for 4 times the price. , and everything I have seen for long term quality is promising. It came with a 3 year warranty, and PA is most famous for honoring said warranties.

I have to wait until the weekend to zero it in fully, but I found the perfect mount position for the eyebox spacing and my own comfort and got it mounted up.

Also, no the magazine is not loaded, so don't worry about the safety position. I just left an empty 10 round mag in it to keep the dust and dirt out.

This is the finished rifle. I did trade out the hand guard for a 17" M-lock unit that was only a little more expensive. I fully lapped the upper receiver and set the barrel with 620 Loctite. Did a headspace check as well and I also dimpled the front set screw for the gas block (planning to get an adjustable later). I shimmed the take down pins to tighten up the recievers a little as well. I also traded out the A2 Flash Hider for a VG6 Epsilon 556 Brake/Compensator and installed a CTS Engineering anti-tilt Active buffer. Trigger is the 2 stage unit from Palmetto State Armory. Only put about 100 rounds through it with iron sights so far, but for a new gun it groups decently at 50 yards. This thing is the smoothest and softest rifle I have ever fired.

The sunshade makes it look huge lol.

Three yards of small river rock. Now to shovel and move it..... The beers will be well-earned this evening.

UPDATE! Got the rock. It was so exhausting watching Mrs. 2LZ shovel that stuff, from the shade, I had to start drinking early.
