This old pole barn was built over 100 years ago. We got a contract to tear it down. It's a shame it has to be demolished. The main structure are actual cypress trees. Good news is we also have a contract to build a new multi-purpose building in its place.

If you wanna watch some Canadian country humour on tearing down a barn, check this out. It's a little grainy.

After years passing and the desire to build a bullet trap, and thanks to a fellow firearms instructor from western Idaho....who gave me the plans to make sure my angles were correct to the deceleration chamber....we built the prototype. (I had to look for the plans ive had, took me about a month to find where i hid them, and my older age didnt help either ha ha lol) We have been training some new concealed carriers, and our range is mud. Was nice to shoot in the shop, on concrete, heater purring in the background, and the shop door open for ventilation. the mrs and I shot 300 or more rounds at it.....WE DONT let a newbie shoot at it as we don't want any holes in the back of the shop! We shot at distances of 15 to 50 feet, no problems. Before xmas, sig sent an email for a .177, 1911 copy, pellet gun, one heck of a deal, never owned one, but great for training....then also a need for a trap. We were in a hurry to finish it so we could shoot, welded it with mig, bimix gas, from the little Miller we got last summer. Had my adopted son weld it....was like found the plans, yes, cut up some 1/4 plate, weld it, hope like heck the angle is right (it is)The son took the stinger away from me....dam kids anyway!
Yes I know my shop is in a turmoil as we just finished 2 huge projects that we started in Nov....and getting it slowly back to normal. Gosh darn, wished Frank the onelegged rider lived closer, we would have him fab it and weld it, while we had some cold brews and watched a master fabricator at work!!!

jerry....that barn wood, would bring huge dollars in the northwest!!!! I couldn't even guess, but the last smaller barn that I saw torn down brought if I remember right ….$50,000.00 to $100,000.00 in old wood. of course there was tear down expense, and loading trailers to ship.

LOL Jerry, what is ironic after I had that bad accident in 2018, I didn't think I could hunt or shoot again. I was scared to fire a firearm for the first time after the accident. Shook like a leaf when I touched off the first round, never hit the target. I stood there like Clint Eastwood as a dirty harry look a like, and I might have said, go ahead make my day. LOL!!!

I just spoke with the other day, with an old sled friend that we met in Elkford, BC. , sledding years ago! great to hear the north country jokes. Every time I hear the Canadian song "out for a rip".....I gotta toast a cold kokanee to the fellows up north, eh?

Since the winter doesn`t seem to be coming here properly this year at all I figured why not make sth useful from my long dead pop`s skis instead since all wood material could be had from my private stash. Total cost of the whole project was under 50eur and most of it came from the two different braided fishing lines I used to braid the limb. (sorry for the huge last pic!)

Repaired my Variac today(the blue thingy)so I wouldn't cook the Zenith. The old tube Zenith radio is rated between 85 and 117VAC, depending on whether running on batteries or mains(There's a switch). My wall outlets are pushing 120-123VAC. I have the Variac putting out about 108VAC and the radio sounds better. I pushed it to 114VAC and the radio got a tad louder but didn't sound as good as at 108. The Variac had a bum circuit breaker that was damaged when a cabinet fell off a wall in my old garage. I hadn't noticed the damage to it because I was sick that my NIB Simpson analog VOM had shattered in the mayhem. Anyway, the circuit breaker was a 4A push to reset Littelfuse 815 series that is long obsolete. Found a newer breaker that fit on Amazon. A little modifying here and there and we are good to go.

I bet that once the tubes warm up, that old Zenith has a comforting sound. I don't think it would have occurred to me to power it through a variac.

Yessir.
I have a slight bit of hum/static on the little station of my choice but the Chicago stations and even WSM out of Nashville are clear.
