My trusty old '74 Camper Special Chevy Cheyenne K20
Felt like braggin on the ole girl tonight because I wasn't healthy enough to run her this season. This truck was literally a barn find. Our county commissioner bought it new for a hunting/recreational camper and drove it on weekends. The distributor went out and he parked it on the backside of his barn under an add on roof. The local trails took us right to the back of his place and we all wanted that truck every time we rode past. But the old man wasn't interested in selling it, and didn't mind firmly telling you so.
Well eventually he sold it to a young fella across the village, who put a distributor in it along with a tune up. Kid couldn't get it to run right and after a year gave up. I looked at the the truck, knew the distributor was a 180° out, and offered him 800 and a couple of cheap things that go bang. As soon as he handed me the title I asked for a wrench and 2 minutes later the thing was running great. Much to his disappointment ofcourse. The truck came stock with a heavier 3/4 ton frame with additional cross members, 350 4 barrel, 350 turbo, bulletproof NP205 gear to gear cast iron transfer case, big knuckle Dana 44, and a 14 bolt Full Floater limited slip that's been a posi for many years. I then added an 8" suspension lift, no body lift ofcourse but I did replace all of the cab bushings. I gutted the wiring for the camper and installed a 5th wheel hitch. Spent $1800 in rims and 38" Swampers, and had a custom front driveshaft made for $300 because of the extreme angles. This thing wins almost every event we take it to, and if not it places top 3. All my competitors think it's about horsepower, it's not. I'm running a 46yr old 350 that doesn't use oil and is extremely reliable, but it is beat, low compression etc. But that's my secret, a big heavy long wheelbase truck sitting on tall, relatively narrow tires that sinks to the bottom and just slowly lugs along. I beat them in slow motion but in this game distance is the goal. And mine is one of the few that is kinda street legal and can be driven to events. And as far as reliability, most dependable best running truck ever. When we fired it up to pick up Jay's bike it had been setting for 9 months. Put a battery charger on it and poured a little gas down the 800cfm carb, varoom. The last couple years the bed rust has been getting worse, but the frame and running gear are beautiful.

The first 6 months the truck kept giving me fits with alternators, could only get about 6 weeks out of one. Then I figured out it came with a high amp alternator (because of the camper) and that's what it requires, no troubles since.

Goofy granddaughter.
My kid texted me this pic of her youngest. It snowed and she was so excited that she ran out in her pjs to play in it.

Daughter, grand kid and boyfriend came up for a visit yesterday. First time I've met him. Good guy so far. No bad habits (well, we did drink a few beers together), no tats, good job, clean cut. Come to find out they went to Catholic school together 1-7 grades.
Also a pic with the lovely and gracious Mrs. 2LZ and grand kid. This visit made my Christmas.

Christmas Day ride with the Granddaughters.
A tutu classies up everything. The youngest is great fun to be around. The older one, though still fun, is becoming the most vile of creatures, a middle school girl.
