That looks like a cool project, but I would think getting restoration parts would be difficult.

I have a friend who said the same thing about the 'Mighty Dunelt', my two speed fixed gear bicycle.

Tempting. Very tempting.

Two speed fixed gear? Does that mean no coasting but you can shift?

Yeah, Doc. The 'Never To Be World Famous' Cheesy Hub, Model A 2 speed fixed gear hub, MkIII. There's also a Model B 3 speed fixed hub and a Model C 2 speed fixed hub. The B and C are kinda sorta out of production, but I can still make Model A hubs.

Blast from the past...

Not what I would consider a 'good' CL deal, but something of interest to many here as made famous by Spudrider...

Didn't those bikes sell for like a $1000 shipped to your door?

As I understand it the main issue was they stepped too heavily on the Yamha patents and they had to cease selling them.

Spud of course contributed ;-)

Interesting, thus the "easy" spud swap to the yam engine.

So these zong 200 's really were "jap" equivalent bikes in their day.

Not too sure I would stand up to 1400 with that many "kilo-miles" on the clock, hard to resist a new China box bike for the same price.

I doubt it will sell for that price. A guy can start the price at whatever he wants but what someone pays is another thing altogether.

I'd think maybe $900 would be fair.

These and the Qlink XF200 OEM'd by Qingqi/Pioneer (now they make the XF250 as sold by SSR) were the real deal as far as cloning went. The Zongshen was VIRTUALLY identical to whatever 200 they were cloned from. The XF200 was NEAR identical to the Suzuki 200. According to 'Crazy Carl' (he was/is still[?] a member here and started mychinamoto.com when he moved to China to teach) Qingqi manufactured some of the under 250cc engines for Suzuki. He did take a tour of the Qingqi factory, and even became a test rider for them back then. They gave him an evaluation Qingqi 250cc enduro to ride around for the last several months he lived in China. Member 2LZ could chime in on how close the XF200 is to a Suzuki because he owns a Qlink XF200.

The modern XF250 from SSR is close-ish to Suzuki from what I understand, but no one has a Suzuki TU250 to compare, as that is their only 250 single bike they have in the US or Canada, I believe.

The only significant differences between the Q and the Suzukis were the Q is a 5 speed (vs. 6), and was much better looking than the Suzuki. Also inverted forks.
