Well it's just painted now, instead of bare metal... A lot of people polish them, but I'm not sure if they were originally painted, or just cleared over the aluminium.. I think most of it was painted except the oil rotor cover and the stator cover? Those are going to be polished, but they aren't yet...
I kind of ruined the heads on the screws trying to take them off...

Common problem. If you don't have one already get an impact screwdriver fro Harbor Freight. Many people just replace the pan head screws with Allen bolts.

Yep, thanks... That's what I used to wreck them with  Most of the screws are fine, there was only a few on those small round covers, and on the tach drive cover.

I absolutely hate finding phillips head screws on a motorcycle! Fortunately, I don't have any of those screws on my Zong.

Spud, I agree, not fond of the phillips screws on the bike.

Ok, here's the engine painted up, waiting for the stator and oil rotor cover to be polished...
The counter sprocket cover and starter are also painted. Still waiting for stuff in the mail... Wish it would show up soon.

That's a nice satin look.
BTW, a little anti-seize on the threads of the screw will allow it to back out nicely when the time comes.

The engine looks beautiful. I also like the satin, silver paint; what kind did you use?

Beautiful.
Years ago I painted the engine from my GS1100 whaen I had it out for a rebuild. The paint held up well. I don't remember what I used but it was an engine paint made to take high temps.

Thanks guys
I used "Cast Aluminium" High Heat engine enamel... I forget what brand it was, just out of a spray can. Dupli-Color maybe? Now I just need to figure out how to wiggle the motor into the frame without scratching either one 8O

Here's the bike now...
Got the mirrors on, front signals on, headlight on, cleaned the seat and put new chrome buttons on it. Didn't get anything over the weekend because we were out of town at the Peach City Beach Cruise, I'll be posting a video of that once I get it done being converted and stuff, it will probably be Monday by time I get around to it.
