Don't know how it is in the rest of the world, but round here, the rule of thumb is that if you want to eat good and relatively cheap food, take notice where the construction workers go for lunch

Flying the Washington Cascades on a beautiful day
This has nothing to do with riding but I know some people like the picture threads :-)
Beautiful calm cool clear skies today and I had the day off so decided to take advantage. First over to a friends farm. His strip is about 2,000 by 20 or so, but a little challenging due to the rolling hills it is on. Clear approach and departure and nothing to hit on either side makes it fun and easy. Then to a friend's little strip in a canyon on the Columbia. About 1000 feet and a little challenging due to the canyon. Then over to Desert Air just east of the Cascades. They have 1,000 of turf there next to the runway. I landed a few there and headed to Cashmere, in the Washington Cascades. From there borrowed the airport van for a drive to Leavenworth. Tammy had a sinus infection and my other friends either had family stuff, work, or were out of town so this was a solo day. I met a cool cat at the airport. The strip at Cashmere/Leavenworth. Shorter than it looks...

Not too cold. High 20s on the ground but no wind and sunshine actually quite OK.

Thanks for posting the nice aerial photos of East Washington, Doc. You status as a noted ailurophile is confirmed by the cat photo.

Thanks for the photo, doc.
I've always liked the Maules (made in GA). There's one at the local airport that is used by the FL Highway Patrol for aerial surveillance. jb

The Maules are indeed made in the sunny metropolis of Moultrie, GA. I picked up my plane from the factory there and enjoyed the visit. Several police departments use the Maule. California used them also until replaced by the Cessna 206 which is much larger. Someone could make a doughnut joke here but I won't ;-)

Amazing pics as usual, Doc. Is that Ranier in the distance of pic #6?
No wonder Tammy didn't join you! I can't imagine flying with a sinus infection.

thank you for your compliments:-) Weld, I do not think that that was mount rainier, but rather than North Cascades National Park peaks.
Here are a couple of screenshots off of the aviation program that I use on my iPad. There is a satellite, a topographical, and a clip out of the sectional chart. I also included another picture of the airplane from yesterday. I will find a recent picture of Mount rainier. I think I have one of the mountain with Mount Adams in the background, taken from the west side .

Sorry for the duplicates and typos, I am using the iPad for this, and it is more difficult than using a computer.
