So ignore the white dot. Should the outlet be on top, or under the clamp?

I edited my previous post. I didn't look closely enough at your photo. Your photograph shows the OCS in the incorrect position. You should not have a big loop in the hose.

Hello Forum
Despite the cold weather and that I had to work on Xmas, still managed to get a few short rides around town, 60-ish miles on the bike so far. Yes, the down drain clear pipe is half full of clear pale yellow fluid, not milky, no particles. And yes, the capsule shaped separator on my bike is NOT mounted the way shown here in this thread i.e my clamp is on top, hose to airbox has a large bend and the nipple /vent to airbox is on/towards the bottom. So should I simply invert the stock arrangement? Wonder if anyone who had talked to CSC about this and what was the feedback from CSC/ Zongshen Thanks Quote:

Yes, you should flip your OCS to match the photograph above. The hose connecting to the air box should be on top of the OCS, and the clamp should be on the bottom. If you orient the OCS in the correct position, you should collect less fuel in the down tube.

Spud
You are always prompt with your replies, thanks for the clarification. CSC/Zongshen should look into this issue before shipping out the bikes. |

Hi all.
I had shot an email to CSC at the same time, i had posted my first query here regarding the position of the separator / OCS. Heard back from Gerry at CSC today. Here is his reply. Hopefully this can officially confirm, to what has already been concluded by the forum members. ============ Ok After inspection of breather separator Here is the conclusion The separator will operate in either position However it will operate more efficiently with the inlet in the upper side as in pic one Reason The separator has no baffles in it only a sponge type material As the sponge fills with liquid it drains into the clear hose Since the top of the sponge is at the inlet it makes better sense to install separator with inlet up Caution Making sure breather hose has no kinks is more important then a properly installed separator Hope that helps Thanks CSC motorcycles Service manager Gerry Edwards |

Thanks for sharing the information, Abe.
I haven't opened my oil contaminant separator (OCS). However, Detours has examined the internal construction of the OCS, and I don't remember him mentioning anything about a sponge inside the OCS. http://www.chinariders.net/showthrea...t=14939&page=6 Indeed, if the OCS contains an internal sponge, a straight tube from the stator cover is more important than the orientation of the OCS. Nevertheless, if you orient the OCS with the tube at the top, and the clamp at the bottom, you will certainly have less of a kink in the tube.

This is my first motorcycle with fuel injection. However, I don't think motorcycles with fuel injection have a fuel petcock. At least the Zongshen RX3 doesn't have a fuel petcock. Therefore, you don't have a reserve fuel supply. You must watch the fuel gauge and the trip odometer to determine when it is time to refuel.
