Jim, Brian's engine has gears. That's a no go in a scooter. Even though this bike will look like a bobber, it will meet the definition of a scooter.

Here is the engine that is in the little ATV.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/50cc-...item3a5c347ac4

Notice that is full CVT with no gears and e-start only. I am wondering if you can install a kick start shaft and auto clutch side cover.

That's an excellent idea Kato. The 50cc (and 150cc for that matter) GY6 engines came with both, so in theory it should work. That said, the GY6 is a very different platform with a dry CVT.

I scored a complete mini quad with a new engine, plus the original engine that needs clutch work for cheap. Once I'm done with the kitchen renos, I'll start mocking up a frame with this engine.

TurboT, do you want the shocks?

Jim, if the throttle works for you, it's yours.

That's great thanks I will just double check what's on mine to make sure I'm not thinking of something else (hard to check on things when it's 20 minutes away). I may stop by after work tomorrow.

I hadn't realized the madass required shifting.

Can't hurt to have spares. I have a set for these already from Gio, but perhaps they are different, work better on the mini beast.

The other parts are up for grabs as well, T. You're free to check out the rear axle, etc if you like.

Great score W&G!

Glad to see other people spending money on 'good deals' we don't need! LOL!

BTW, is that Son Of Weld And Grinds Ranger? I'd like to see more pics of it. It's looks like the same color as mine.

That is indeed his Ranger, but it needs a bath before pics, and it's a little chilly for that right now. Don't want a skating rink on the driveway.

It's a one-owner '91 with no accidents, no rust and a ton of new parts, including a complete exhaust system (with cat). It has 300,000km on it (180,000 miles). It needs some clutch work and it'll be ready to roll.

That's a nice segue way back to your garage topic. I took a giant door in to a door shop on the weekend to have them fabricate a frame for me. That door will be used on the shed, meaning I can then move what is now in the shop into the shed and secure it. I'll then have shop space for all of my mad scientist projects.
