What is this for?
Any body know what the large gold thing on the front brake caliper is for? I don't know how to post a picture of it(sorry) but it on the lifan gy5 200. I think it could be knocked off in a deep rut.

the dealer took mine off as he's had someone knock it off before.
I thinks its' an anti-lock device of some sort. I have gone down some real steep wet stuff and I have a real hard time locking up the front even with my "Goldie" gone. |

Allfun
Looks may be deceiving...They are Anti-Lock regulators, and they take one heck of a beating. I haven't seen one damaged yet. Bruce

I still have the golden bullet on mine and I was a firm believer that it would break off on the rough stuff, looks dumb but it does work, ON-ROAD, I've grabbed HARD on the front and it didn't drop me, it slowed me down FAST, I was locking the back tire from down shifting and it kept me upright... I'll keep it... Still looks dumb...

Mine was removed by the dealer as well, but I thought he said it was some sort of reserve... Ohwell, never locked up the FRONT brakes yet...

If it is an anti lock device, anybody have any kind of a clue how it works or what it actually does?
