Odd and interesting. Reminds me some of Harley's relationship with Aermacchi (?sp) in the 60's and 70's, but in reverse.

Did you look at the dates?
Article dated: February, 2009 Harley-Davidson Moves to Bolster China Presence; Motorcycle Maker Announces Relationship with Chinese Company MILWAUKEE (June 8, 2004) - Harley-Davidson, Inc. today announced the signing of a memo of understanding with the Zongshen Motorcycle Group Like everybody else.......they (Harley Davidson) are playing with the idea of buying usable product/sub-assemblies out of China. (where do you think all the aftermarket Harley crap comes from? including engines/transmissions http://www.ultimaproducts.com/ ) If they can sell some bikes, fine, but I *think* you will be seeing a bunch of Chinese parts (to replace the currently Japanese sourced?) parts on those Harleys. |
