Welcome to the site! I have to agree that a sprocket change would be your best and cheapest option for now.

hi James, I'm new here as well and I'm thinking about buying a QTX125 from my cousin.

I'm used to bigger bikes (750's) but I'm unemployed and broke at the minute so a smaller, cheaper to run would a better option.

The idea about fitting smaller sprockets is a good option, but to be honest 50 is probably about right for a little 125.
