It's not about the rear axle. The so-called gearbox is the set of gears in the back of the CVT. You can easily identify this engine as a GY6 by the side cover on the engine. Once you remove the cover, you expose the belt and centrifugal clutch arrangement. The drain and fill plugs are at the back, that is, at the extreme right side under the cover.
