I am a huge fan of old mazdas, particularly the RX3 and the REPU. But just about any old mazda or maybe a datsun 510.

I'd like my first car back too, 1970 Olds Cutlass with a 455 big block. Not the best choice of cars for a 16 yr. old, but I got by somehow. At 30mph it would break the tires loose when you hammered it.

I guess I'd like to build my "dream car", and I'd start with an old Chevy or Ford, full size, from back inthe 60's, and strip the body and engine out of it, leaving only the frame and suspension.
Back in the rear part of the frame where the gas tank sits is where I'd put a seat wide enough for two and the fuel tank could be relocated up front somewhere. Powerplant would be two of the old Ford 360 CID, full house, put in series, and timed for minimal vibration. A decent auto transmission and a rear-end ratio that would allow extra large rear tires and a top speed (with some left) of around 100 mph, and this should allow pretty good throttle response up to around 70 or 80. Coachwork similar to the old Morgan or MG Roadsters would tie the ribbons on this, MY DREAM CAR. Just imagine the handling with the driver sitting directly over, or perhaps slightly to the rear of, the rear axle -- something like this would be awesome to drive -- I don't think anyone has ever put anything like it on the road before.
