China cars

CNN has a article titled Cars: 6 Chinese knock-offs. I read the article and looked at what they are calling knock offs and I mus t say in all but one case I think the Chinese cars are better looking than the originals and the 4 door Mini Cooper is awesome.
If I was making cars I'd whine too if someone made my car look better and sell for less, but isn't that what capitalism is all about

looks good but look who the maker is 8O i would be afraid i would get a gray market so i couldnt get parts and no chance of me being a dealer :twisted:

I prefer the 2-door Mini, myself.
But that's mainly because it reminds me of my very first car...a 77 Honda Civic.

A sweet little classic that can be seen in the movie "Employee of the Month", and also in the movie "Police Academy"...where Hightower removes the front seat and drives from the back.

50MPG Hwy...those were the days!

Copying is the highest form of compliment. If somebody is willing to go thru all that trouble to copy, then I know the copyee is a good product and I want to buy it. I don't want to buy inferior quality copy. I want the genuine thing. Copying also encourages the copyee to innovate faster, because if they don't, the copier might one day achieve parity in quality. On the other hand, to give somebody an exclusive right to a design is like monopoly. I don't like monopoly. I like competition.

and with top quality, is always copy this copy that with them, and parts i'll bet bottom yen they wont stock parts globaly :x

I am all about the "tiger trucks". I see these Chinese trucks on campus all the time. They are perfect for towing a china-bike.

It's one thing to buy a $1300 dollar motorcycle, to save on fuel or use as a toy, but I wouldn't want to drive one of those unproven cars in the fast pace world going to work and back in a major city. It's initial cost would be several thousand dollars, the resale value would be next to nothing, they don't have any kind of manufacturers support, and I wouldn't trust the vehicle in reliability, or safety. I'm sure some day the Chinese will make a good car that will be common day in the US market, but I don't want to be the ginea pig. Kinda like Hyundia. In the late 80's those cars were plagued with problems, but now it's a nice car. 10-20 years from now I could see a Chinese car in my driveway, but not now. Good post none the less.

A wider gear box... the top speed is like 40mph, but that can be altered.
