Paladin 300
Who knows about this new(?) bike? Looks like a Templar 250 X with a 300cc fuel injected, 4 valve head, water cooled, 6 speed, counter ballanced.

Looks pretty sweet. 25kw is 33.5hp. Not too shabby.

That is the sweet spot. Just wish it was air cooled.

I saw this bike on the power sports website for the first time yesterday. It seems to be a fairly recent addition to their line up. Is there any history with this engine?

Hmm? This is enough to overlook my fear of EFI. 6 speed counterbalanced 4 valve engine, and liquid cooling (which is awesome for off road slow trail riding, just add a fan).
I found a Loncin engine that seems to match. Loncin KE300F If this is the same engine, that bore x stroke is oversquare which will allow higher rpm. Their plot of power versus rpm goes to nearly 10k rpm! Shorter stroke also means a shorter cylinder, more room up top for valve access. Nice. At 78mm x 61.2mm, it has 292.4 cc displacement calculated on the Spicer displacement calculator (if this is indeed the same engine). It does look like the same engine. This is a promising development.

It's a Kawasaki KLX300 engine clone, same bore and stroke.
This engine is NOT EPA certified to the best of my knowledge so it'll end up being an Orion 250 Loncin situation where if you do get it registered they will end up revoking it eventually. |

The Power Sports website lists this bike as EPA certified but not CARB certified.
My Templar 250X came EPA certified...as an off road only mc. With a MSO stating "motorcycle" I easily obtained an Oregon license plate and title. |

Your Templar X 250 also has an engine stamped with the wrong code to avoid EPA certification for a newer engine model. The boxes all state off-road only and you had to specifically ask for an MSO saying "motorcycle" because the default is "off-road motorcycle".

I’ll bet that getting a tag for road use here in FL would be difficult. And I bet that seat height would be difficult too…

Wow, it appears to actually have a kill switch. The Chinese are getting very sophisticated these days.
This appears to lack some street legal equipment for my state including a chain guard, full rear fender, reflectors, and the turn signals are too small to even meet DOT requirements. All this is the same as my Orion was. In fact, the signals and dash cluster appear identical, and possibly also the mirrors. Still, I think with some basic modifications and bullying the seller into putting "motorcycle" on the MCO I might be able to get it rammed through here. Very interesting. If this actually makes 33 horsepower I will eat my hat. A real KLX300 only makes like 24, tops. But if it does, I'll also buy one right now. |

The power curve is there, just scroll down in the embedded window (link below). They are definitely claiming peak of 25kW. I see the curve is a linear build. It looks like about 26 hp at 7000 rpm (20kW).

Has anyone made a purchase on one? I am new to this forum and have never ridden a dirt bike. I was planning on purchasing a Templar X but for not much more $ the Paladin is very enticing. Looking at the specs it is listed as weighing the exact same as the Templar X which is odd.
