Ai yi yi, what a continuing shitshow.

I had breakfast with Harold yesterday and asked him if he was counting down the hours to Aug 31. He said minutes and as far as he's concerned, he's already retired. Apparently, the sole Service guy in Beaufort asked for Harold's help with a warranty issue and Harold told him he had to start discussing this with Harold's replacement. The new Harold has had a year to learn the ropes and still hasn't gotten his feet wet.

While at breakfast, Harold got a call from one of the sales guys who was on a rampage. The guy has worked for a year to sell a machine to a transit down south. He'd finally gotten them interested. The transit had agreed to buy one and had the cash. The sales guy submitted an invoice to the parent company in France and the French said, "Nah! Not interested." That was a $250K order out the window for an outfit short on cash.

Lastly, I received an email from the new international CEO requesting my attendance at a Zoom meeting. I declined. He emailed back it was required. I responded that I no longer work for you and if my attendance is required, I require $5K for that attendance. Crickets.

I have to consider the source on the first one. The second one,

I'm still wondering if this team can even tie their own shoes.

These execs couldn't find their own a$$e$ with both hands, an anatomy chart and a sherpa to guide them.

Hilarious that you were told you were "required" to attend. I'm shocked that they are still in business. Only the government is allowed to be this incompetent.

The real problem started when the owner palmed off the day to day operations to his cousin, Alexandra. She had an MBA in finance. Instead of hiring people with railroad experience, she hired more MBAs, whose mantra is "Business is business". No, jackass. The railroad business is not like other businesses. It's an entity all its own. A Good Ol' Boy network where if you do something to piss off one guy, the entire industry knows about it by the end of the day.

Hiring a former VP from Sony(she did)or a Bean Counter from VW(did that, too)bring nothing to the table. Instead of admitting, "Opps, I screwed up", she doubled down and brought on more of the same. That started the exodus of the experienced people.

It used to be that many were willing to stay on past retirement age because it was a great gig. No more. The new hires are usually unqualified. The good ones leave within a year because of the BS and the lousy pay.

The new CEO is the first non-family member to hold that position. Will it help? Don't know, don't care.
