2023 Lifan Expect Suspension Dimensions

Pretty much what the title entails. Curious what aftermarket forks and shocks could replace the stocks. I mostly want to get something that allows me to adjust the preload, compression, and rebound. Stock doesn't seem to have any of those options. So, I figured I'd ask here about what parts are possible replacements.

Outside of that, working on the bike has been a lot of fun! I've got the valve clearance corrected, spark plug gapped properly, and replaced the chain. Just need to do the front sprocket to a 17t (Honestly I've been considering maybe lowing to 13 for more acceleration but I'm unsure how much that would do.)

Also, did anyone else notice the bike comes with NO grease on the bearing for the swingarm or anything? Hella glad I decided to take the whole thing apart...

If your Xpect has the skinny forks like the carbureted Hawk you can add some cartridge emulators to the forks with a simple to make DIY adapter. There are two options for the valves that fit the inner diameter of the fork tubes (24mm). One is YSS suspension, the PD238 valves, which is what I have on my Hawk, or the MikesXS valves for the XS650, which are easier and a decent amount cheaper to buy than the YSS units.

This gives you the ability to adjust high speed compression valving. Rebound and low speed are tuned with different fork oil weights. It also allows the suspension to act correctly in how it dampens.

As far as spring preload, you can adjust that one of 2 ways, or combine the two.
1. Make the appropriate length spacer needed to set rider sag and install it in the forks,
2. There are fork caps out there that offer a little bit of preload adjustment (about 20mm or so).

If you are clever and combined the two correctly, you could have a base preload setting, and then you can add in more as needed.
