Stripped Threads
I stripped the threads on one of the inserts on the tank for the side panel on a Templar X, Any fixes anyone can suggest?
Thanks! |

I always feel a bit skeezy doing it but sometimes you can get away with using a similar sized coarser thread SAE bolt. I never used a self tapper like Freddy suggests above but that makes sense as an easier way to so the same thing. Most self-tappers seem to be SAE. if the fit doesn't seem tight enough, a dab of blue LocTite should take care of it.
The actual proper way would be drill it out, retap it for a Timesert or Helicoil, and then use an original type bolt again. Nice and professional, but really an overkill solution for this particular problem.
