A bike for my daughter

Hey all,
Been awhile.. i'm considering another China bike, but this time for my daughter. She's 15, about 5'6" and brand new to riding. I tried to teach her a few things and let her try a solo ride on my Beta 430 but it bested her when she mistakenly grabbed a handful of throttle and almost hit a tree.. doh..
I quickly realized that she will need something smaller, lighter and with much less power So i searched.. at first, and from experience i thought of the usual suspects, a Titan 250 or Templar 250 but they are too tall as well.. I then found a Xpro Storm 150 DLX that should fit the bill, it says its 180 lbs net, 19/16 wheels, lower seat height and it says its fast and can go 65+ mph.. for real?
Does anyone have experience with this bike? any cons i should know of other than the usual everything working itself loose, etc?
I have an email over to PSM to find out whether the MCO will say motorcycle or dirtbike but if anyone know would appreciate that info.
Thanks in advance!

it ain't gonna go 65, that's for sure. and you could always go with a bit larger rear sprocket. would help at slower speeds and reduce the top end speed.

Not many folks on here with 150s. most of us go with the 250s, but understand the size issue. FWIW, I got my grandson a 125. He managed to find the only telephone pole on a 1 acre lot to run into.

Are you looking something for the street or off road. Most dual sports are tall and are more setup for slower speeds. Your daughter is about the same size as my daughter. The Venom Ghost Chopper was a perfect fit for her. With a 36 tooth rear sprocket, It could do 65+mph.

This was for Halloween. She don't normally dress like this.

I think you're on the right track with the 150. Riding a dirt bike especially off-road is an excellent way to learn how to ride a motorcycle. It's true that there are trees and telephone poles, but at least there aren't 2,000 lb 3,000 lb cars and trucks to collide with! It's also useful to learn how to break the rear tire loose and control it. You also get experience with front wheel skids. And there's a lot less pressure for learning how to use the clutch and transmission.

A dual sport like the Hawk or Storm also make a lot of sense. 14 horsepower, low seat height, 5 speed with a clutch. Full lighting and street legal for graduating to road use.

We live on gravel an there are lots of offroad/gravel options nearby, so primarily looking for a dual sport for her with weight and seat height being the major decision points.
The Storm 150 looks promising but yea i searched on the forum and there's not much about it.. i did watch a couple of YT vids and it does look good and i think it would be a good fit for her to learn on and i figure with her weight i'd imagine it should be good for 60mph which would be fine for her learning how to ride.
My main worry now is whether i could register it here in VA. PSM site says its offroad only although it has signals and lights and appears to e street legal. Im still waiting on them to confirm whether the MCO says motorcycle or not and may message one of OPs i found in search from this site that has one to see if i can get that answer.
Also, for $1200 shipped it looks like a pretty good deal.. I was pleasantly surprised to see the prices for the 250 still havent moved upwards yet, in fact, if it wasnt for the seat height and weight, id be looking at the Titan for her at around $1500 shipped or the Templar 5sp for a couple hundred more

I'm in a similar position but looking for my wife who is about the same height. Now that they are back in stock the XPro Storm 150 DLX is my first choice. I'll pull the trigger on it soon I'm sure. Let me know if that's what you end up with, I'd love first hand opinions. Good luck!

Update: just placed the order for the Storm 150 DLX from xprousa. Funny note is that it's the same company as PSM but was $50 cheaper.
I will create a new thread documenting the build and observations once it arrives. This will be my 5th experience with a China bike, hmm, does that now make me an expert lol...

I'm really looking forward to hearing your build report and how she fits on it.

I'm hunting for the same bike for my daughter, but I can't find it in stock anywhere. There is a "Thunder DLX 150" available at PSM, but I don't know anything about that one.

Anyone know if the Storm has been discontinued?

Storm 150 is a TALL enduro scaled bike, but getting great reviews. It's out of stock, but unlikely to be discontinued. You can always contact PSM and ask about availability in the next few months. Templars disappeared for more than 2 months, but came back. These come in shipments, and they run out.

The Storm 150 was popular enough that I'd be shocked if it doesn't come back soon (less than two months?).

PSM will send you an MCO that is labeled "Motorcycle" if you ask them to. No issues there.
