That nut covers the screen for the oil "filter"


I'd almost be tempted to have a new oil fill cap machined up with a port so you can run the gravity drain line from your turbo in there.

Thanks. I discovered shortly after my post that my engine has two drain plugs - a small one on the bottom and the big one on the side. I'll adapt the big one for my purpose.

The one on the side isn't considered a drain as it doesn't completely drain the oil out of the engine. It's called the filter cover. The actual drain is under the engine. In the above video, they should have drained the oil out of the bottom first. This would have taken the swarf and sludge out with the fast flowing oil. Then the side cover should've been removed to access the filter screen for cleaning.
