Hawk Brake Lines
Hello. New guy here. I received my new Hawk DLX on Thursday and put it together on Friday. I bled both brakes - got some air out of the rear system, no air in the front. The front lever still feels spongy. My question is has anyone replaced the roughly 3 foot long rubber hose with a braided brake line? If so, where did you get the brake line from? Haven't ridden it yet - I need to haul it to the BMV on Tuesday for licensing.
Cheers! |

99% certain that a front brake line for a Honda CRF230F will fit , or the front brake line for ORION RXB 250's is braided stainless and it is a China made Bike so should go right on.
ORIONS parts section for RXB 250's is a tad cumbersome but i'm sure if you poke around long enough you can find it.

No, I just bled them. Good idea. I'll replace the brake fluid tomorrow. Thanks.

In the end where did you find your brake lines? I didn't even look at the rear line on the Hawk DLX that was delivered last Friday. That is until I lost all pressure on the first rise and found the rubber line was in contact with the exhaust. Rubber and hot metal don't play well together.

Theres lots of braided hoses on ebay and Amazon, just take some measurements and get them. However dont expect them to make any noticable difference in your brake feel or stopping power... but they do look kinda cool.

I found that both CSC and Brozz250.com (Peace Motorsports) sell braided lines for their respective 229cc enduro bikes. They both want about $27 for the pair. Both companies also have relatively outrageous shipping fees - over $20 for USPS. All else being equal, Peace accepts PayPal so I went with them. BTW the rear brake line is 24"/600mm. The front line measures 54"/1370mm.

Yep, the brake lines are doing fine. No signs of breaking down. I can squeeze or push down with all my might and they don't fade at all
