2019 Hanway 125 ECU issues

Hi All,

So Ive just bought a non runner 2019 Hanway Black cafe 125 eft e4 bike. The PO said it kept cutting out on him and on inspection had blown the fuel pump fuse. He replaced the fuse and carried on a few times but eventually got sick of it cutting out and just wanted it gone. Once I got it home I replaced the fuse (a 15a as I was told by him) and tried to start. The bike spun over for a few secs and then smoke started coming from the ECU connector. i quickly pulled the key out but the fuse didn’t pop. unfortunately in that time the wire from the pump pos got very hot, melted the big ecu connector and a few adjacent wires and fried the ECU. After doing some deeper research these Hanway bikes don’t seem to have a great rep; the fuel pumps are a common weakness, second hand parts are nearly non exsistant and new parts are expensive, limited in availability and have long lead times. Wish I had known this…

Rather than fork out nearly the value of the bike for a new ECU, Wiring loom and fuel pump im considering my other options. Open to suggestions

The ECU is a Mikuni 310 and doesn’t seem that common unless I’m mistaken? If anyone knows of any other bikes that have the same ECU that would be great. But even if I can find a cheap ecu I still need a new plug. Im considering buying a cheaper and more widely available wiring loom + ECU on ebay (maybe from honda or Lexmoto) and soldering in the different style plug and different ecu. Luckily I have found a pinout for the Mikuni ecu..

So long as I make sure the connections are the same between the old loom and the new ecu is there any reason why this wouldn’t work? Also Is there any interchangeability between fuel pumps on 125 Chinese bikes so long as the wiring and hose size is the same?

sorry for the essay, happy to add more info. any help or insight would be much appreciated

TIA!
