Gas mileage for people that ride it hard?
I'm getting mid 50s with the stock speedometer (non-corrected speeds), a 130/80/17 rear tire, and a 13T countershaft sprocket. Fresh valve adjustment, plenty of power, running at 8000-9000 rpm on the highway and pretty much accelerating wide open from every stop when riding on backroads. I'm 275 lbs.
Does this sound about right? Charles. |

Pretty normal...given the 13T sprocket and WFO through the gears. The engine can take that treatment, no problem. You are probably giving up 5-6 mpg but that only means you go 20 fewer miles to a fillup. No big deal.

I was averaging 56 with the stock gearing, never WTO and all city driving so it sounds about right.

A 13T sprocket came with my bike when I bought it last month. Not sure I am going to use it yet I'm about 205 lbs. I think I'm going to check valves at 2500. I'm at 1900 now.

I get mid 50's when flogging it, but for my normal commute I usually get 65ish on mine (283 big bore kit) and 14k on it....does a little better with non ethanol gas

I never saw 50 MPG on mine, just under that. I did have a speedo corrector, and without that, the bike thinks you've gone farther than you actually have.

I just installed the speedo corrector yesterday, so I expect my mileage to drop considerably. I finally got the connectors from aliexpress and wired them into the SpeedoDRD, so I could just plug it in and not cut up my wiring harness.

I measured my fuel consumption in recent trip
Odometer distance: 591km GPS distance: 560km Fuel consumption (Pertamax 92 RON): 23.98L Bike was fully loaded with pillion (88kg + 65kg). Ridden quite hard but with absolute mechanical sympathy. Calculated fuel economy: 24.6 km/L (odometer) 23.3 km/L (GPS) |
