Bye Bye Tao Tao

Well, after many years of great service, I sold the Tao Tao Rhino to a friend. Since I bought the tractor, it never got used anymore and I could use the shop space for other projects.

Got a fair price for it, plus a couple items she didn't want, including this older Honda Somthing-er-other. Looks like maybe an older CRF125F? Chime in if you know. Looks like my old Hensim DB150's but the Hensims had disk brakes.

Drum brake up front tells me it's an older bike. Motor turns over and has compression. Gonna get it running, replace what's needed, and give it to my brother for his grand kids to beat up and run around on his acreage. Still have some type of fat-tired mini-bike coming as part of the deal. Not sure of its shape. I'll find out......and of course, since my pics don't open, feel free to click.

It looks to be an XR80, possibly an '00-'03 model year. Might even be an XR100, same model years. The basic difference is wheel sizes on the front and rear.

The lady I sold the Rhino to said, "I don't know. The kids had so many bikes! I think it's a 70 or 80 or 150 or something!"

I hope you shed at least one small tear for the Rhino when she left.

Yah, it was a bitter sweet moment. Two things helped my sorrow. One, it went to a good home of a friend and will get used properly and treated nicely. Two, a handful of cash....
