"Dual Sport"- Enduro Vader 125. Grom Clone

Can I put this here? I just ordered a Chinese Grom clone. Vader 125-10.

Most of the info about these bikes is in the street section. Guys lowering the exhaust, street tires, swapping bigger engines. Etc.

I am interested in taking my clone mini offroad. So knobbies to start with. Shinko Mobbers I think.

Most pressing is raising the exhaust header, it just hangs way too low. Surprised I've found nothing about raising those. As I understand it, Honda DAX/Z50 style header will fit the bike, since the engine is based on the CRF50. And a skid plate.

Anyone know of a header pipe that will tuck into the bodywork of a Grom clone? Or used a DAX pipe on a Vader?

Then the front fender needs to be raised. Anyone done that? I've seen a couple pics of Groms with high fenders, but surprisingly little. I haven't got my bike yet to see how I might mount a dirt fender to the forks. Anyone done this or raised the stock front fender?

I can't be the first guy wants to play with their cheap mini bike in the dirt! It's almost like being a kid again, except the ground is harder now...

There was a guy from the L.A. area who did a great job turning his Tao Hellcat into a dual-sport. I haven't seen him post for a year or two.

Hey Culcune! I think you might be talking about my bike. I just posted it for sale on this forum.

Sorry, just realized this is a really old thread.

With horizontal engines… downward facing exhaust will always be an issue. Something with a vertical engine - like a Kymco Space, 4 valve, 149cc, EFI, counterbalanced, would far more easily let you divert the exhaust to the side of the bike, up high - scrambler style. They’re even sold as aftermarket in Taiwan - where the bike is made and sold in masse.
