I looked angrily at the fork and shit fell together. Figured out my drive train brain phart, too. I won't admit to what I did but it was an "Oh, shit!" moment when I saw it.
We have a busy weekend being doting grandparents, so back on this on Monday when Arky Sparky has to happen.

No Owen hockey at Oh Dark Thirty this morning, so I made some headway today. The front is done and I have the rear end figured out. Problem with using the brake drum hub with a freewheel being both driven from the crank and driving the rear axle was the brake had no effect on the freewheel, so no rear braking. Whee!? The only real solution, short of getting a hub modified for a trike($$$)was to make the trike a fixed gear. There wasn't enough room on the hub to mount two fixed gear cogs without getting expensive, so I did the next best thing. I welded up the CC (cheap chinese) freewheel.
It ain't pretty, but it worked. Being a CC freewheel, it was bound to fail anyway. I just need to make a pinch bolt for the rear brake cable then that headache is finished. I took the nice Soligar crank off and replaced it with the less nice Sugino Impel triple crank. With a spring loaded chain tensioner, I should be able to use all three chainwheels on the crank, using a front derailleur. That should(should)give me a 1:1 low gear to get up the hill by the house.
