Front Wheel Bearings - Question
Hi all,
Heard a crunching noise on my XPro Titan DLX front wheel and determined it to be the wheel bearings. I attached a pic which was taken after the dust cover was removed. I tried to pop out the bearing "case" from either side using a flathead screwdriver and mallet but they wouldn't budge. I then tried to pry off the rubber ring insert and that came out easily to expose a bearing ring that appears deformed and broken. I've never replaced bearings before but ordered these ones.. my question is.. does the assembly itself pop out and if so, how? or do i just replace the inner bearing ring? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you can’t get to the race from the other side then they do make expander tools for pulling bearings out but if your frugal like me you make one. I just replaced both front and rear wheel bearings on my goldwing. If you have a bolt laying around close to the diameter of the axle then cut a split in the bolt. Slide the bolt through the bearing and insert a punch or beatable screwdriver into the split and it grabs the bearing and pulls it out. I can take a picture of it when I get home if you like.

Ah, thanks for that advice! I also did a google search on the method and read that you can use a long screwdriver as i did and from opposite side catch the inner bearing and then beat on it in a balanced manner, ie.. hit the top edge and then the bottom edge so it comes out flat.. i think i can try that next.. banging just one edge will make it want to angle out and cause more damage im sure

I think the other sucky thing to add is that this happened at the 1k mile mark on the bike, so premature.. hopefully the aftermarket ones last longer

If you can get to then absolutely tap it out a little on each side until it comes out. I’ve never heard of the brand that you ordered, hopefully they are good. All balls brand bearings have been around a long time and most people love them. Since they are Chinese bearings the price is usually pretty good

The factory bearings, like most cheap bearings you find online, come with almost zero grease in them. That is why we recommend to either replace the bearings or remove the seal on the bearings and pack your own grease in them.

I have always bought Timken roller bearings. They are slightly more expensive, but they make 'em all. They have 6202-2RS. Description on ebay:
(2 PACK) TIMKEN 6202-ZZ 15X35X11MM Double Metal Seal Ball Bearings $15 and free shipping. The ones you got should certainly last longer than your OEM bearings, but if you ever have to replace THEM (!)... |

Buy good brand bearings and spend the extra dollars. Timken, nachi, skf, fag, or even all balls.

So I installed the new ones but unfortunately seem to have lost the inner hub spacer. I will be replacing the bearings once I get the inner spacer but does anyone know the specs for it. I know the inner diameter should be 15mm but not sure the length. This is on a 21" wheel for Xpro Titan. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
