Magician Air Box/air filter installation

Has anyone taken out the air box on a Magician. The reason I'm thinking about doing this, is I'm changing the carburetor and want to add an airfliter that would fit in where the air box is. Doing this will also help remove the carburetor in the future.

Thoughts?
