I'm doing my coast-to-coast ride on April 2-3. I won't be far from you coming across I-10.

You need to take a detour on HWY 90 and pass through Houma. lol Much safer and more scenic than I-10. Going through New Orleans and Baton Rouge will be a PITA. 90 will take you back to I-10 in Lafayette and bypass all that mess.
If you happen to need to stop and rest overnight I have a place to get cleaned up and rest.

DO NOT take HWY 90 along the beach in Mississippi though, that is one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the US. (although quite scenic during the summer)
