My 1930 Ford Model A Town Sedan

mototech77 & Boatguy requested pictures of our 1930 Ford Model A Town Sedan.

https://www.chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=29925

Her name is Alyssa. We have to name our vehicles, motorcycles, and tractors because we have our own fleet.

She had a complete restoration from 1968-1971, and a refresh in 1991. She is painted with factory correct green and black lacquer. She has her original 3 speed crash box transmission and 4 cylinder 201 CI engine. Her bumpers, carriage wood, carriage metal, running boards, fenders, and headlight buckets are all original to that car. She has a 6 volt positive ground electrical system and 4 wheel mechanical brakes. She runs beautifully, though she does get mad at me when I don't run her at least once per month.

She has been in our family for 7 years. :-)

If you ever need any "A" info or possible parts connections, pm me. My neighbor is a Model A nut and still has two of his past collection. He's also a master machinist and can make any part you may not be able to get.

When I attended Georgia Tech (err, a couple of years ago), the cheerleaders were brought onto the football field in a Model A (and on the running boards). It was the "Ramblin Wreck from Georgia Tech".

When she's warmed up and the surface level winds are minimal, she cruises beautifully at 45 MPH. I pushed her to 53 MPH once. She death wobbled on me, spit coolant out of the radiator, and scolded me for pushing her that hard! Yes, she has a strong personality! She tells me what she wants, when she wants it, and how she'll manage it.

My wife and I call trips in the A 'Model A Time'. You CANNOT be in a rush when you're in an A. If you are, you will lose focus, grind gears (the gears are straight cut crash box style without synchros), and end up in a bad spot real quick.

Is your model A called a Vicky?
Looks like one but maybe they didn't call it a Victoria until 1932.

wheelbender6: Alyssa is not a Vicky. I know someone who has a 1931 Model A Victoria. It's an absolutely beautiful car, and hard to find.

david3921: I'll post interior pictures when I have some time. I'll try to cover all angles.

We had a 30 A pickup when I was a kid. It was so cool but mom made my dad sell it because it was old and didn't have a heater. To get back at her, he bought a 46 Hudson pickup. It had a heater but refused to start at the worst times.

My truck heater doesn’t work, but it’s not really a problem when you live in Houston, lol. Glad the AC still works.
