Hawk 250 rear wheel lock on engine conk out

Brank new 2021 X-Pro Hawk with barely 40 ticks on the odometer.

If anything occurs to conk out the engine the rear wheel will lock up - unless I engage the clutch (of course).

Note that this doesn't just occur, it only happens during user error type of situations. E.g. forgot to turn the petcock back on so ran out of gas in the carb. In that case I was in second when it locked up.

I used to have an XR250R many moons ago and this never happened.

Is this occurring because the engine is brand spanking new and the compression is crazy high? Trying to puzzle this out!

It’s completely operator error ,pull in the clutch or slip it into neutral ,The engine and rear wheel are connected together otherwise so if one isn’t turning either is the other .

Thanks Bruces!

Just what I figured! The ol' problem between the chair and keyboard thing!

It has been really a long time (25 years?) since I was riding my XR250R but I have to admit I don't remember it ever doing that. I wish my memory was better!

These engines are pretty tight when new. Once you get some miles on it the engine will loosen up and get better.
