Question 2020 Hawk 250 Jetting Recommendations?

Hello everybody, I have a Hawk for about a year now and still having issues finding the right jet settings. I have gutted the cat, pod filter, 17/40 sprocket gearing, mikuni clone with 22/115 jets, NGK plug. My problem is that I dont feel that the 5th gear is getting any umpf. I go from 4th at 7500 rpms to 5th and cant get it past 6000. I have a steady idle at 1300 rpms with my mixture screw out at 2 turns. I'm at 100 ft. elevation in Houston. Do you guys have any recommendations?

P.s. This is my first post, but have been following the forums for a bit now. Thanks for all your help in the forums.

A question here, what kind of speed are you trying to achieve? I can't answer about the jets as I have an efi. My thoughts maybe the gearing is to tall causing the 5th gear problem. In other words the 17-40 combo your using. Just thinking out load...

I'm running 17/43 and my bike also tops out at 6k in 5th. I have the ebay performance exhaust.

Top speed is the same as stock 15/50, although the engine running at 6k is better than redline lol.

I need to get some slow jets for the 30mm Mikuni I bought. I accidentally ordered jets for something else.

Main jet will be the only jet to worry about for WOT. There is no one size works for all. It will be trial and error. What different jets have your tried? Bump up to a 120 main and see if it makes any difference. On the stock engine with the 17/40 gears you probably won't get much more out of it. Until i ported and decked the head the 16/40 combo was pushing it. After porting and decking the head i could easily push it past the 7000 rpm range in 5th gear.

I'm trying to reach a easy 65ish. I mainly ride on street mostly. I was thinking of possibly tightening up my gearing soon, missing my low end power.

After posting yesterday, I ended up stepping down to a 110 main. Originally was running rich, sorry I should of mentioned that before. Getting a lot more responsiveness out of the top end and the plug seems happy. Only issue I'm running into now is at idle the bike is hunting a bit after it warms up.

P.s. Porting and possibly decking is my next project I'll be working on.
