Well you wanted to upgrade that shifter anyhow. Lol

I think what I like best about my tbr7 on the trails, is its underpowered. I mean until i get the hang of riding dirt bikes, I'd rather stuff happens slowly. If it were a high powered machine the couple small crashes I've had would've been much worse.

. Alot of cousin Jay's first dumps (3 within 20 minutes) were caused by ruts. I explained to him that you try to stay on top but if you drop down in one commit to it and ride it to the end. He's figured it out now.

Just wait until you have your NEARLY disasterous encounter with overconfidence. The kind of event that turns off time and everything happens in slow motion, and out of luck, skill, or a mix of the two you manage to somehow not kill yourself.

Mine was riding along the banks of the river on the Iowa side not too long after some serious flooding had receeded. Scooting along a double track service road at about 35-40mph when I instantly ran into a DEEP layer of not so dry silt. This is the kind of thick stuff that even the best knobby tire on the planet can't shed. Spackle thick, and stickier than axle grease. My Shinko 700's turned into ice skates and I had the butt pucker experience of a life time as I was heading right toward some very unfriendly looking cottonwood trees.

I somehow managed to keep both wheels down through that. Had to take a moment and let the adrenaline wear off lol.

Back when I was dirt riding with my buddies a couple times a month I would almost always fall at least once an outing. No big deal - we all did. I used to have a collection of bent handlebars hanging on my garage wall. Now, almost 40 years later, and being a late sexagenarian (if you don't know what this means, it's not as cool as it sounds) I know that I don't heal nearly as quickly. I've slowed down a lot in the dirt, but still have fun. Happy to see that you were able to continue on.

You're okay - that's the most important thing! I wish my old GoPro footage from in the desert wasn't corrupted - I had some pretty good crashes while I was learnding

Once was thrown about 10ft. off the bike. Transitioned from hard packed sand / dirt to sand dunes and locked the front bars full left, tossed me off - though that was the most peaceful experience; being thrown through the air, weightless lol but tumbled away in the loose sand, got back up. No injuries! Bent my rear brake lever though! I probably dumped my GS650 eh, 50 times? That bike is a friggin TANK.. wish I still had it lol but the cost was not too nice.

Ride hard - ride safe man! That's what hardens your skills!!
