New Hawk 250, Rear brake switch is activating the starter

As title says, the rear brake switch will cause the starter to turn over and it won't light up the brake light. However, if I unplug the yellow/pink and green/yellow wires from next to the battery, the rear brake switch works as it is supposed to. The front brake switch also doesn't work but from what I read that might be an unrelated issue. Thanks in advanced.

Found the issue. The plug from the speedo and ignition switch both had bent spade pins. Straightened them up and we are good to go.
