Issue with hawk dlx
Good afternoon.
I’m looking for some advise. I don’t know squat about EFI so I’m lost here. My hawk dlx started to idle super high. Around 4K rpm. It seems to smooth out after after it warms up but only if I play with the throttle. The throttle cable appears to move freely and does not snag. The bike has never done this before. Even on cold starts in the winter it would never go above 2k on idle. Any suggestions? |

Sounds to me like a possible vacuum leak around the intake after the throttle body.

Might try picking up another gas tank and a carburetor and for less than 100bux and never worry about it again. Just kidding.
I hope you get it figured out and share the solution. There are more of these out there and I'm sure others will be looking for answers as well.

To check for an air/vacuum leak just spray some WD40 around the intake and vacuum lines. You should see a change in the RPM if it sucks in some of the WD40.

I’m just following up on my post in case someone else is having a similar issue.
The last few times I started the bike it idled fine. I did not do anything to the bike. Not sure if it magically healed itself. Lol. If I have the problem again, I’ll play around with it and post my findings. |
