Kick stand soft ground shoe, or pad ?

I have found myself in the spot a few times now were my kickstand want to sink in the mud, and I have to either push the bike around checking for better ground ,or find something to put under the kickstand. Every time I experience this, I intend to pack something on the bike for this scenario, but I always forget to do it. It happened again today, in more of a sandy soil, rather than muddy, and I actually resorted to using my wallet. I am just curious what you folks pack on your bike to keep the kick stand from sinking in soft ground. I am thinking of rounding up an old flip flop sandal, and cutting a pad from it.

Ohhh, fancy!

On a more serious note, I have considered simply welding a well shaped bit of flat steel to my kickstand foot just to have something wider already attached. One of those bolt on style ones would be nicer, obviously. I wonder if there is one out there that would work.

Maybe just a piece of the crate steel, a sloppy weld, and some por 15 would do the job.

I just carry a 4” x 4” scrap of 1/2” plywood in my gear to put down if the ground (or tar) is soft.

I did make a few from the sheet of whatever kind of material that thin panel on the bottom of the crate is made from. It is very strong, thin, and lightweight . Once I started thinking about it ,I saw potential in all sorts of things. I just settled on the crate panel because it will take up next to no space.
