what am I looking for to determine if my stator is bad?

tao atv 125, no spark. changed the CDI, Coil, and plug, so not much left.

using my meter what am I looking for to determine if it is bad before I remove it?

I have already removed the kill switches and tested it with the kill.wire.out of.the CDI plug. using my meter on volts at the cool wire while cranking, it shows zero while cranking, then just as you left off of the button it will show 4-5 volts
