Bashan Storm 250 Kill Switch, Exhaust & Throttle

The Bashan Storm 250 does not have a kill switch/stop button on it. The only way to stop the bike is to turn the ignition off. It's kind of annoying. I was wondering if there's a way to add a kill switch, or even better, to change the hazard/flashers switch into an on/off switch. Below is a picture of the starter and hazard switch.

Second, I just installed the typical, cheap eBay exhaust (picture below) on my bike and it's just a little too loud. I know Cravin01 on here installed it and hated how loud it was. Idle sounds amazing but it quickly gets too loud when accelerating. Does anyone have an easy/cheap recommendation for how to quiet it up a bit? Also, was a gasket or something supposed to go between the cylinder head and new exhaust? There was nothing there when I removed the old one.

Third, the throttle on here is super chintzy and flimsy. Can someone please recommend a good, cheap replacement? Bonus points if it's on Amazon Prime and has better grips. I have absolutely no idea what is involved with making sure the throttle assembly and cable work.

Oh yeah, and one other thing I was wondering. I know a lot of people shave their heads by about 0.04"/1mm for performance and I'm considering doing the same. I was just wondering if anyone makes a performance piston that is 1mm taller than stock. Wouldn't that accomplish the same thing and be a whole lot cheaper and easier?

yes, there should have been a gray gasket, i replaced mine with a copper donut when i replaced it. the can is essentially has no baffling, just some packing. You can try to find a bark buster that fits and redirects the sound. The spark arrestor i have made a small difference, but probably not enough to make it worth the cost.

Am I missing something here or does anyone else see that big red kill switch on the first photo?

That is not a kill switch, its a hazard light switch.

That's interesting! On my bike, and I'm thinking on a lot of other people's china bikes, that is the kill switch. I'm wondering if anyone else with a Bashan Storm could chime in on that. As far as I know, a kill switch is normally off, and when you kill the engine with it you actually turn it on which grounds out the ignition. It would not be hard to wire if you know what you're doing. My bike is a South African version that is mostly Hawk but has a balanced CG engine and some other minor differences. I doubt the wiring is the same between it and your Bashan Storm. I'll try to look at the wiring to see if I can be of any help though.

Yep, utterly useless. When I have a bit of time I am going to try to figure out if I can rewire it into a kill switch. I was just hoping someone had some experience with it.

rewiring it should be easy. its like that because of the silly alarm and remote start. Forgot mine had it until now lol.

Normally it is, but these have the remote start alarm thing and i think they eliminated the kill switch because if you left it in the off position the remote start would not work. Granted he remote start is half ass'ed at best, it WILL start in gear and that is an easy thing to fix by tapping the neutral light lol.

That is indeed a dangerous substitution! I am surprised that DOT will approve that and allow registration.

On every bike I own or have owned that is the location of the kill switch.

It is also the location for the kill switch specified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation in all of their testing and training manuals.

If one went to take their cycle test on that model the instructors might have a bit to say about the arrangement since it is general opinion that a kill switch is a necessity.

Just say'n

Yeah. I don't have it installed right now, but I did use the throttle.
