Valve ajust
I did the first valve ajust. .05mm seeme to be tight. so I went with .10mm but that sounds a little loud. anyone knows what works best?

.04-.05mm COLD is standard for most "Big 3" bikes.
Too much gap, you can lose performance and risk engine damage. A pleasant "sewing machine" sound WHEN WARM is what you are looking for. If the sewing sound goes away when the engine is at full operating temp, your valves may be being held open, and engine damage is sure to follow. The heat expansion of the valve train causes the gap to decrease. |

I've got about 300 mi on my Roketa DB-07A, When should I consider a valve adjustment and has anybody posted any step by step pics?

The Valves should be set at a .002 thousandths, or tight .003.

Here are the clearances that were for my Honda ATC 200x Exhaust: .03 to .05, Intake: .05 to .07. these were for an OHC engine, don't know if these will apply to having a pushrod engine, but I was gonna use these when I do my valve adjustment. Can anyone explain why Honda recommends the exhaust having a tighter clearance than the intake. Is it because of the heat? Just curious........

valve adjustment on a Hi-Bird QH200GY OHV Engine
I'm getting ready to check/set the valves on my QH200GY OHV engine. I've set valves on OHC Honda Engines before and am wondering if this is going to be tougher. Does the engine have to be lowered or removed to get the valve cover off or is there room? At a glance, it looks like it's going to be tight. I'd appreciate it if someone could give me an idea of what I'm getting into. :?

Hi Bill
Yes the covers are tight to remove sometimes. If you have a pushrod engine , remove the bolts from the cover. Lift the cover and move it towards the right side of the engine, tap it on the left side with a rubber mallet and it will pop right out from between the engine and the frame. By the way...all of these engines are {OHV...Over Head Valve}. The difference is there are Pushrod engines and {OHC...Over Head Cam} engines that have the camshaft over the valve train run by a timing chain. Just some technical information, I hope this helps. With the QH200GY bikes that I sell, Hi-Bird, you have to remove the front engine mount and the front lower mount bolt and loosen the other upper rear mount bolt in order to tilt the engine forward to get enough clearence. I tried everything to get around this, but it is just too close in the frame and this is the only way to remove the cover on these pushrod engines.
Some owners have reported that they actually grind down some of the ribs from the top of the cover to modify for more clearence and seems to work for them, I personally do not recommend doing this as it was casted there for a purpose, to pull heat from this area of the engine. Your bike, your choice, but if you have warranty to deal with, you wouldn't want to do that just yet.

On our vivas we just had to lift the back of the tank slightly and the cover came out, but it was a little tight. Ride hard and have fun.
