I'm using Lucas 20w50 year round because these engines get hot, regardless how hot it is outside. Am I wrong for this? I don't mind being a experiment by the way, for science!!

use what you wish and change it and filter regularly …. ….

Great pete. You just put sanity into a good oil thread. I love reading these things. Now it will stop because they will say "yeah, I will run what I want". lol. People have some great opinions on their oil. I agree with you tho. I've never heard anyone say "brand X just ruined my engine!". I think some oil is better for wet clutches but as long as you have clean new oil is all that matters.

Today, I put fully synthetic 5W30 oil in CG200 for the first time. Engine likes it and feels more powerfull, no clutch sleep problems. If everything goes OK this would be my new Winter oil. For summer I go to thicker oil.

lesson learned lol Never post on a forum about oils. Im just trying to make decisions easier for new people haha we all know we can just look in the manual and go with the "spec" but it doesnt always explain everything. The sj-sl thing confuses many people as it once confused me. No one seems to be up in arms up in arms but there seemed to be some miscommunication about the purpose of the thread. Ride safe everyone!

The best advice lol very humble. But I mean Cool, now that you explain things its a lot more understandable for people who are new or newer. That makes total sense. I also posted a link to an oil chart earlier that explains all of that as well, almost pretty much about what you said. I see what you're saying, there's no disagreeing on my part but some people don't know anything about it. That link I posted will hopefully help some NEW people. And they can read through the discussion to choose the route they like.
