Smile Hi from the Pocono Mts of Ne Pa.

Retired LEO, like Bluegrass and probable older than 2 or 3 of you stacked together. Bought, rode and sold many bikes over the years including Kawasaki 350 Bighorns, Hondas, CZ's, and Ducati. Did a little M/C and club events but had more fun with dirt riding and hill climbing. I have a street bike, a Kawasaki 800cc Vtwin which I still ride occasionally. I'm thinking of selling that one and getting my last dirt bike and some of these China bikes look pretty good in the videos I've watched. Two years ago my son and I took an Extreme Dirt Bike ride in the Mojave Desert and had a great 2 stroke ( fast as heck ) that we took on five different race courses in the desert including one hill climb. Finished all five courses. That was on the bucket list for a long time.

Sorry for the long intro...

Being from upstate NY,...the Pocono's are near my home territory. Been to a few races at Pocono Raceway (motorcycle road races,..drag races...) nice area.
Like you,...I'm done with the larger, heavy, street bikes....and also went with a new China dual sport for my riding....

Used to run the quarter mile drags at Pocono Drag lodge. If you remember that, you have to be a " senior " rider as well. I live less than a half hour away from the racetrack. You may find this interesting, a couple friends of mine went up and met the owner of the track when we were on our Triumph motorcycles. The track was all dirt at the time under construction. I asked if we could take a lap around to try it out. He looked at us and said " If anyone asks I absolutely told you guys no.. then smiled and walked away. We obviously took our lap with great satisfaction..

The drag race events we participated in were in the early seventies. The events were held at the oval track,..with the "strip" set up on the long straight-a-way in front of the main grand stands. We ran our 350 Yamaha modified there. fun days....
As senior a rider as you?....my first bike was a 1965 Suzuki K-15 80 cc Hillbilly...then graduated up to a 1969 Yamaha DS6C 250 high-pipe scrambler...have had several motorcycles ever since.

That's a bit later.. There was a separate drag strip a mile(s) or so away from the regular track. Straight line run with a man made hill around a half mile away so the chutes from the AA Fuelies could fully deploy and stop them safely. Even Art Arfons with his jet car was there. Between 250 and 275 mph I seem to recall. Most popular time period in the mid to late 60's. I ran a new 66 Triumph Bonneville in the 14's. Guess that's not too great now a days but back then it was pretty decent.

Used to work P.T. as a contract guard for DHS in the Federal building in WB about 7 years ago. Once you get out of the cities there are lots of nice country roads and scenery. Wisconsin seems to be a country paradise of sorts. Didn't quite make the Dells as yet but its on the bucket list.
