No Spark ATV (from Tractor Supply?)
Hi everyone, need some help please as I can't find a shop to work on this ATV.
ATV stopped running one day and wouldn't start again. Got a new battery and now starter cranks on push button start, but engine won't turn over and no spark on the plug.... Got a new plug and ignition wire. still no spark on plug... CDI shot? I tried to bypass safety wire on CDI. Also wired together the safety switch on the rear of the bike.... It's a 5 pin (2 pin, and 3 pin wires) but can't find a match anywhere, can I just hard wire one up that has 5 wires? Help |

Check here for a 5 pin CDI. You may have to buy a jumper harness.

I interpret the above to mean that the starter motor is turning over, but the engine is not, that sounds like a broken starter chain behind the flywheel or the starter motor pinion gear fell off. I would remove the stator cover and look inside to see if the chain is intact and the pinion gear is in place. If everything looks okay, I would hit the starter button while watching the flywheel and see what happens. |
