Carb needle mod

When I am taking out the carb, do I need to worry about fuel draining out of the tube, if so, do you just plug it with something?

I was able to do it with out removing the crab removed the side covers tank shroud and seatwhere the cable enters the top of carb remove the cap that the cable goes to by un screwing it and you can remove the spring and the needle

i just took the seat off and i got to it through there. still haven't adjusted the screw though. maybe i'll do that when i hit the dyno.

Well, I moved the clip one up towards the non-pointed end and you kick start it and the engine revs and keeps revving and wont stop unless you turn off the key?

What the...???

I am going to move it to the middle location again and see what that does.

first thing, you moved it in the wrong direction.
2nd the needle probly didn't go back through the main jet. does the throttle feel normal?

No throttle wasn't even touched....it just revved on its own.

Yes, i moved it in the wrong direction.

I just put it back in the middle position adn it started up fine. So, on mine, I am not going to move it, haha. It was setup pretty well, I just used the adjustment screw to adjust the idle.

Going for a test ride right now....

mine was a bit lean and i think even now with the pin moved one down it's still lean. as soon as my buddy get's a chance i'll put my bike on his dyno and tune it. either that or i'll just get my wideband exhaust clamp back from him and tune it myself on the street.

OK, just took a trip around the yard....

Is slightly stronger on the bottom end because I adjusted that screw on the right side of the carb and adjusted the nut up on the handlebar, so it is at a nice low/medium idle.

Shouldn't have moved the pin in the first place, but did it anyway, now I know how to do it! Always good to dig into yoru bike to see how it works, haha.

your reving out of control was not because of moving the clip it was not assembled correctly probably the needle not seated holdong it open.
anyway glad its running ok now

You may have installed the carb slider backwards.

There is a guide pin grrove for the left side, and a short-wide cut out on the right for the idle screw.

You dont adjust the idle at the throttle cable. Return it to where there is just a slight amount of slack, and adjust the screw on the right side of the carb.
