The mods never end. You will keep thinking to yourself, "ok, I will do this and it will be perfect." Then you find yourself thinking of something else you want to change a week later lol.

Thanks, I was kinda wondering if anyone was picking up on my shirts. Funny thing is I don't think I purchased but one. My wife and other family members get them for me for Birthday and Christmas etc.. God I've got a great family!

I couldn't see well enough into your exhaust port to tell if it was better than a Hawk exhaust port or not.
If you haven't seen my head porting thread yet, this is a post showing a before and nearly finished after shot from the chamber side and port side. http://chinariders.net/showpost.php?...&postcount=113 The actual finished exhaust port from the chamber side. http://chinariders.net/showpost.php?...&postcount=129

Those some great pics Dan and yes the exhaust port looks exactly like that, I was expecting worse though. I had seen some bad ports on YouTube compared to this. It looks like there is room for improvement for sure though. Did you use a Die grinder and sand paper?
I decided I would focus removing the cat only in this video when I seen that the original exhaust was not up to my liking after gutting it, I will be replacing it with the aftermarket exhaust simply because of the muffler couldn't be opened up properly and the cat area was still too ruff. It just didn't make sense to port on a head with all that jagged cat area and whatever may be blocking it in the muffler.

It was kind of a bummer about the muffler being sealed like it was. You could still open it up, but that would be a lot of work to get it sealed back off again. One option you do have would be to simply cut the muffler off and then add whatever style of muffler you like and have a pipe made to connect it to the stock system. Cost wise it would likely end up costing the same as the whole ebay system though. The upside would be having zero fitment issues.

Cravin01, I picked up a Wen rotary tool with flex shaft for under $20 from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Rotary Burr Set https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and some abrasive wheels from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I used a flap wheel sanding ball to smooth out and finish it up. I polished it with the abrasive wheels. Polishing isn't really not necessary, Just get it smoothed out.

I guess I never did answer the die grinder question.
Jerry's approach is a great one for a budget. I already have a die grinder on hand. I bought some different burrs, more or less the same ones as Jerry did, and a couple of bigger ones to reach certain areas. This is where the rotary tool flex shaft is handy, you can reach into areas much easier with one of those than you can with a die grinder. I also used my hands and some sand paper, some emery paper, even some mini files. I also used my valve guide hone set for the first time in ages, and shimmed the valve springs just a little thicker and properly lapped the valves in with multiple compounds. While not necessary, I figured I might as well go the full 10 yards and give every part a good once over.

You guys can call me Paul, The Cravin is my old "Medal of Honor", "Call of Duty" gaming name. I guess I should change it on the site here.
I found and read your entire thread on the head porting and I gotta say more came out of the port than I initially thought. The exhaust side doesn't even look like it could be the same head. I'm sure it will make quite a difference and I bet your bike improved a lot Jerry. I'm not going to pursue clearing this exhaust and muffler out any more, it will get a nice clean light new CRF exhaust and at that point I'll tackle porting. I've never done any porting but I think it's well within my level of skill set. Plus I can just buy another one if I screw this one up. I'll get it tagged this week and ride it a little more than I've been able too and see what I want to work on next, I have more ideas than cash on hand. The rotary tool looks good Jerry. I was leaning toward a cheap die grinder but they kinda seem to be a little bit bulky and unwieldy.
