Looking to get a Pit Bike $800 LIMIT
Hey guys I ride a 250 HAWK. and ive beaten the thing up pretty well lol. I want to give the hawk a break and get a little bike to beat on.
I've always wanted a pit bike but some of the bigger brands want like $2,000 for a little 125cc bike and I just couldnt ever bring myself to pay that much for such a little bike. I'm really working on trying to get a bigger and more powerful enduro. But that's going to cost quite a bit and I wouldnt mind spending a bit on a fun little bike first. Anyways, I want something I can wheelie and beat up and just have some all around fun with, I'm more interested in torque rather than speed. So i was wondering what's out there that are good pit bikes? Id really prefer a 125cc (unless there's a 110 that can give me an equal amount of torque) and I cant really go pass $600-$800 at all.. Ive checked out the SSR's because a guy offered me a used one that would need a front fork replaced for $450 but I wasn't sure that that's really that good of a deal and thought maybe a brand new one would be better, since who knows how abused the used one is. https://www.orionpowersports.com/201...ping-warranty/ ^That's the bike i was checking out. So if anyone can tell me about these bikes or of any other brand or type that might be better, but is also in my price range OR even CHEAPER. That would be great and appreciated. |

the guy said the fork cap flew off. So im assuming it stripped the threads and would need a whole new fork. |

if you were planning on spending $800 then I would get the Apollo 125 Model 37/007 Dirt Bike It has 17" front and 14" rear.

Taotao just introduced another pit bike alongside the 3 they were already offering; I do believe their DB17 is under $800 including shipping from most places, including my friend Alan at Excalibur Motorsports. Call him and see what price he can get one for, and go from there--909-591-8800. Keep in mind that Alan almost always answers the phone, and that Excalibur is not a discount website with poor customer service. Excalibur's main line is distributing TGB scooters, but they also distribute Chinese product, namely Taotao (Excalibur was 2 miles from Taotao's Southern California warehouse, but sine they moved are around 10 miles). My suggestion is to call him first, and then if you can get a better deal, call other places.
The Taotao DB17 has several videos on youtube and seems to be a stout bike, which is why I suggest it. I did post about their new bike, the DB27 on another thread, but I am guessing it might be more expensive, or, if it will remain lower cost, will replace the DB17. http://taotao.us/index.cfm/dirt-bikes/

The Apollo 007 says it has 13hp?? is that true?
Or would the 009 be the better option? I don't know if I prefer the smaller tires 14/12 over the 17/14. i want a bike I can really toy around with and do stunts on and be very agile on. and get my foot down if I fall over. Is there a huge difference between the bigger rim size?? Apollo 007: http://www.powersportsmax.com/produc...ducts_id/20456 REALLY cheap Db-x20: http://www.powersportsmax.com/produc...ducts_id/18054 This is the list Ive been checking anyone have an input on these?: http://www.powersportsmax.com/index....h/33_50/fid/33 |

Im stuck between choosing the SSR or one of the Apollos.
There are a ton of different Apollos to choose and also IDK what size tires would work better for me. SSR http://www.powersportsmax.com/produc...roducts_id/291 Apollo Db-G001 17/14 http://www.powersportsmax.com/produc...ducts_id/20456 Apollo Db-G012 Db-x15 14/12 http://www.powersportsmax.com/produc...ducts_id/20702 |

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices. For under $1k, the whole lot of these pitbikes seem to be well worth the price. Apollo as a brand are led by the big bike, the '36', which gets good reviews for a $1300 229cc dirtbike (I think I have read in a few places that it is technically a pit bike, but I have no idea what constitutes a pit bike vs. a full-size dirtbike).
I wouldn't count out the Taotao. Superior sells those, too, and like I mentioned, call my friend Alan to see if he can get you a better deal. If not, it seems like Superior has you covered.

I just noticed, you posted powersportsmax. Try Superior powersports, since they seem to go head to head with powersportsmax...

Do you reckon the pit bike is mostly characterized by a horizontal cylinder engine?

No, because the '36' has a 229cc horizontal engine. I am guessing it has to do with frame shape and/or size?
