RPM @ 55

RPM's - hey guys..i notice now that I can easily get to 7000 rpms's and at that level the bike is doing about 55 mph. is this too high for the motor? I see the redline is way up there on the gauge but 7500 is as far as I am willing to rev. I just wonder if 7000 rpms is safe to run for any length of time.

I would limit it to that if that is what you feel comfortable with...more for passing as needed, but I couldn't see 7500 being a bad speed for these engines, either. You could go higher, but if you don't need to...

My Jetmoto never had a tach, but I think these can run in the 9000+ range. However, Zapkin was asking for 7500, which seemed enough for him...but you sportsbike kids....

I've past the redline before and run at 8500 for extended periods. I have run WOT for 45 miles on the interstate.

It still runs.

Same here. ON MANY OCCASIONS. I wouldn't worry about the engine. It's everything else on the bike that you have to look after.

I think 55 is about 7-7500rpm for me and I usually run 60 at about 8000rpm.

It will be fine. My bike at full throttle in 5th gear will only rev to about 8500rpm.

That is about 70mph.
