Hawk and the Eagle quadcopter day out!

I was planning a ride on the Hawk with all the upgrades I did recently. Then my "Eagle" quadcopter found out and wanted to tag along. Was a slightly windy day. The plan was the "Eagle" was going to follow me down the trail. It had a mind on its own. Maybe it spotted a rat or rabbit lol. Anyway, the Hawk and the "Eagle" made it back safely.

Nice video. I have the white Hubsan 501s. I updated the firmware on the quad and is alot more stable flying. The following me works alot better too. I plan on taking it out the next time I go to the spillway.

I think I read you had spent more on rc than hawk. I've been flying for the last 20 plus years. I'd say I more than the hawk as well. Do you know what version hubsan your on. I got mine last Christmas. This was the first time I took it out. I have the same model of black.

I'm on version 1.1.17 . The quad is more stable with this version. You can also switch the light to were they stay on steady instead of blinking. It also removed the hight limit. I started flying since I was 12 or 13. I'm 59 now . I would have to take off both shoes to count I only have one plane left from about 35 years ago. I have it stripped down ready to reskin. I have a few RC cars and trucks I play around with. I have one that will run over 65+ mph. I have to have a lot of wide open space to run it. My daughter who knew better decided to run out in front of it one day. It hit and broke her ankle before I could stop it. Needless to say I only play with that one when no one is around.

it looks like I'm on version v1.2.12 quad and
v1.1.21 on the transmitter.
not sure if 1.2.12 exceeds 1.1.17
I heard they implemented a height limit. my latest plane is the Tundra by Hobby King. Its pretty big for a park flyer.

Ouch for your daughter! that's pretty fast.

You should be up to date. I got mine when they 1st came out and there were a few issues with the firmware. From what I have read it was advised to not upgrade past 1.1.17 because it would restrict the hight limit. Some people have downgraded to 1.1.17. I know I'm happy with how mine performs and no changing anything. One of these days I'll finish restoring my old plane. I got too many hobbies. The Hawk is one of them. I took my daughter out riding on it today. It's Mardi Gras time here so we went ride the parade route before the parade started. We ride Tuesday for mardi gras. I'm the DJ on the float. Another one of my hobbies. Lol

On the US web site they have the 16 version. heres a screen shot of what came with it and what I put on it tonight. 1st pic came with. 2nd what I installed. If your on 1.1.17 then 1.2.16 is a few updates I would say.

Messing with firmware is like a crap shoot. You might fix one thing but something else may mess up. Mine is working too good. Like I always say. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm curious what the newer updates changed.

I have been tempted to take my Phantom 3 Pro with me on a couple of rides also. But I'm a little leary since I have more invested in the quad than the bike. I have thought about picking up a cheaper quad just for that purpose. How do you like the Hubsan products? I had a small cheap version for a short time.

I have the hubsan 501S and its not bad for the money. brushless motors is nice. the props will break though if you have a strike. replacements are cheap on banggood.com the feature on this model made me lazy. the RTH switch brought it back to me easily without me flying it. The transmitter has gps and will go through the AA quick. Like on two 20min flights. so, bring extras. the lipo pack on the hubsan is rated 10c. which these days is way low of a discharge rating. But, the hubsan doesn't seem to need anymore than that. altitude hold is very crisp when you use it. the video is pretty clean except for some jello effect on occasion. So, I think its pretty good deal for the money. its not a 1,000 quad with the gimbal on the camera. but, good enough for me. I don't intend on flying it like a sport quad. I think its good for aerial photos and videos with some cruising around abilities.

I got mine For $200 when they 1st came out. Very nice quad for the money. With GPS mode it is super easy to fly. Transmitter does eat up regular batteries quick. I switched to Energizer AA Lithium Batteries and get 16-18 flights out of them. batteries are about $8-9 for a pack of 4 but cost less per flight than regular batteries. You can also solder in a plug to use with a rechargeable lipo battery.
