A question about TT250 registration in PA
I just got all my paperwork from CSC. Very thorough. I have already added the bike to my insurance.
I read this checklist published by the state DMV (pdf): http://www.dot.state.pa.us/Public/DV...ts/fs-toos.pdf It's reasonably clear. I called a tag notary out of curiousity and they said just bring all the paperwork I have and they will take it from there, but it sounded worryingly vague, and I don't like vague... I'm curious about the vin tracing; it looks like the only thing I have left to do is obtain that when the bike arrives. So, my questions are:
I'd done some searching on this topic, but some of the terminology confuses me (I'm not originally from here...) Thanks in advance. |

If the price is decent--go to the notary as the state offices are a royal pain in the $#@! You could probably figure out how to register it on your own, however, by going to the state office if you have the time.

Same here. In La. they will issue registration, Tag and apply for the title at the Notary. I was so easy and no waiting.

As a follow up, I used a tag notary, and it was very smooth.
I couldn't get a vin tracing on the bike for all my efforts, so the guy said he'd be okay with a clear photo, which I had already got for reference. I think this is a good example of private enterprise wanting to get it done, whereas I'm sure the DMV would have been a lot more obstructive. The guy said "your paperwork is in order. That's good enough for me." |

Penn. is notorious for Chinabikes to NOT get tagged. However, the TT250 is one of the only Chinabikes, if not ONLY CG-engine type Chinabikes, to get CARB certified for California, which is a big deal, so if it is good to go for Calif., it should be good to go in ANY state! I knew it would be good to go, but being Penn., I expected a roadblock or two before they gave you the honor to register your bike.
On a sidenote, I wonder if the Hawk could be registered via your route?

I have a lot of family around the Hazleton/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. If you don't have something that's been around forever, good luck! PA is not at all receptive to new things coming into the state. It's the same for cars, motorcycles, anything. It's a crying shame, too. There are abandoned strip mines EVERYWHERE around northeast PA, and they're hugely fun to do stupid things in. In any event, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!
