2004 110cc zStar
im looking for parts for my Zstar, Most i was able to find through ebay. The two parts i seem to be having issues with are these rubber bushings on the rear Axle. They go between the rear hubs and these sleeves that cover the Axle. There is a lip that slides into the Tube.

Do they only take up space or do they offer some sort of cushioning? If they serve a purpose you will probably need to make your own. If they just take up space what about getting some new tube and cutting to length?

Appears to be the same axle as the Taotao. Strange place for a rubber washer. I'd replace the rubber washer with steel so you can tighten up the wheel nut.

I think it's just used to keep the crap from getting between the tube and axle .How about a piece of rubber hose ?or a large o ring ?

That looks very similar to the setup on my Coolster 150. On the Coolster all that tube does is serve as a cover for the axle and if the axle nuts come loose they won't back off to far( That's happen twice). Mine had fell apart and started to rattle. The rubber washers just keep it from rattling. I used a piece of rubber hose on each end. put a little grease to help slide it on.

It looks like the mod I did to my Rhino with a piece of conduit tube. All it does is keeps the rear hub from forcing its way into the thin side of the axle when the rear end bounces around.
From what I understand the washer they use instead for the Rhino (just a washer, no tube) will warp after time and no longer serve its purpose. Was why I did the modification. Not sure what the purpose of the rubber washer is. Can only guess it is to keep the tube centered on the axle and add some mush when you tighten the wheel castle nut. EDIT: When I added the piece of conduit pipe to do this mod I kept the metal washer on the axle... Haven't had any issues with this mod.. even with pulling 200+ lbs of gear behind my Rhino along with my 200lb self. |

My 200 quad had a similar outer tube. I ditched it.
